Productivity Hacks of 3 Famous Lady Leaders
“Productivity is about your daily Rituals, not so much about what you do with your time.”
Have you ever wondered “How does ‘she’ does it ALL?” Sometimes successful women, both famous or the typical ‘girl next door’, seem like true Wonder Women!
Their secret weapon is not a golden lasso or magical bracelets though, but has to do with the buzz word ‘Productivity’. With so much stuff to do each day and so many roles to fulfill, it can be quite overwhelming to keep up with the rat race life often is. More and more women struggle to keep up and try to make the most of their time during their busy days...
So, I did a little research on behalf of us ALL and found some great hacks from 3 Lady Leaders that inspire me personally, on how to be productive:
MAGICAL MORNINGS WITH REESE WITHERSPOON
It seems that Reese has more hours in the day than most others... When asked how she manages to be an actress, a producer AND an entrepreneur, she replied that her ‘Morning Routine’ is the secret to her success. She likes to wake up early so she has enough time to have her tea and read a couple of newsletters before her day starts. It’s important to Reese to have meaningful conversations about all kinds of subjects with the people she meets, and the emails from her favorite websites are an inspiration for her.
Reese: "The Secret to my Success is my Morning Routine"
Another part of Reese’s Morning Routine is exercising. The thing is, especially when I’m still nice and comfy in my bed, exercising can be the single one reason I DON’T want to get up and leave my warm blankets. Reese says that she always tries to squeeze in some exercise as it clears her mind and she feels she’s a nicer person when she does. And she is right! So, in order to follow in Reese’s footsteps, I had to replace my lack of willpower with my own Morning Rituals to make exercising easy, fun and meaningful. I now complete a 30 minutes Nordic Walking session in Nature before I get to work, and totally LOVE it!
WORK RITUALS WITH MAYA ANGELOU
Ritual Routines are not only there for SelfCare or your personal life. Maya Angelou is a true inspiration when it comes to a Ritual Routine for your working hours. She had this extraordinary routine where she monthly rented a hotel room in her own hometown. Every morning around 6.30 AM she entered the room, and she usually left it by 2 PM. The hotel room was very basic, with nothing more than a bed, a table, and a bath. Maya wanted it to be so minimalistic that she even removed all the paintings and decorations. The only things she brought with her were a Roget’s Thesaurus, a dictionary, and the Bible. With all distractions removed, she had great focus when writing. When coming home after 2 PM, she took the time to read what she had written that morning and did the editing. This is how she wrote her books.
To me, Work Rituals are important too. I do so much better when I have a good plan and a serene place to do some ‘deep work’ in. I like to start my working day by setting an intention and lighting a candle. With some soft background music and a nice scent of essential oil coming from my diffuser I set myself up for success. And let’s get real, you don’t need to hire a hotel room, you can do the same with a spare room in your home, or find a quiet spot in a nearby cafe. The point is to have a physical space where you can get into work mode that is separate and distinct from your personal non-work space.
PRODUCTIVITY PLANNING WITH MICHELLE OBAMA
Michelle is one of my favorite famous Lady Leaders, she is such an example of Feminine Leadership. Most of us know her as the former first lady of the United States of America. But she is also a lawyer, author and so much more. Michelle’s productivity hack to keep up with it all is to plan everything out. She says that she has to be fiercely organized to get anything done. I think she would definitely love the Lady Logbook, as she knows how important it is to start with ‘personal leadership’ before focussing on ‘professional leadership’. Michelle always starts by scheduling her personal needs like SelfCare, her family time, her workouts, etc. The time that is left she uses to plan her work.
I would love it if you would try out the Lady Logbook for yourself. Just start with tracking your daily rituals, so you can hack your own Productivity too. Like Michelle, you can start with planning out your personal life first. That way you will boost your energy, increase your health & fitness and get more insight into what you really need to reach your goals.
